A Colombian voice for content that sounds local

Colombian Spanish — particularly the Bogotá register — is often called the clearest in the Americas: measured pace, crisp consonants, little slang in formal speech. That reputation makes it a strong choice for courses, customer service and brand content aimed at the Andean countries, and a poor fit for content that needs Caribbean speed or Rioplatense attitude.

01

Which accent, and where it stands today

The Colombian voice for this page is being built from open-licensed recordings in the OpenSLR Colombian Spanish corpus, with a Bogotá-leaning, neutral register rather than paisa or costeño. Until it clears listening tests, this page lists every Spanish voice we have so you can generate today; the Colombian voice will appear at the top of the wall the moment it goes live. We would rather show you an honest state than a voice we have not heard ourselves.

02

Writing for a Colombian voice

Colombians use “usted” far more than other Latin Americans, even between friends, so a customer-facing script in “usted” sounds right rather than stiff. “Ustedes” for the plural, never “vosotros”. Everyday words differ: “celular”, “carro”, “tinto” for a black coffee, “¿qué más?” as a greeting. Sentences run slightly longer than in Mexican scripts; give the voice full stops instead of dashes and it will keep the calm rhythm the accent is known for.

03

Where it shines

Courses and tutorials, real-estate and finance content, health and public-service explainers, and any brand that wants to sound trustworthy rather than loud. For TikTok hooks aimed at Medellín or Barranquilla the tempo of the neutral register can feel slow; write shorter lines and let the pauses do the work. For a whole-region campaign, pair this page with the Mexican page and A/B test the same script.

04

Format and licence

600 characters per generation, as many generations as you like. Reference recordings come from CC0 and CC BY licensed corpora only; every voice is a pseudonym and implies no endorsement by the original speaker. If you believe a voice derives from your recording, the credits page explains how to request a takedown.
