A few things worth knowing before you start.
Does this transcribe TikTok videos with speech recognition?+
No. It only extracts captions that already exist on TikTok, including the platform's own auto-generated captions. If a video has no captions you get a clear "no captions found" message, never a machine transcript.
Which files can I download?+
TXT (plain text, with or without timestamps), SRT and VTT subtitle files. They are generated in your browser from the transcript already on screen.
Is there a limit?+
Public videos up to 10 minutes, and 3 successful transcripts per day. Failed lookups do not count. Copying and downloading a transcript on screen never counts toward the limit.
Can I pick the caption language?+
The tool shows the caption track the video actually has and names its language. Where several tracks exist you can switch; the tool never translates or invents a missing language.
Do vm.tiktok.com and vt.tiktok.com short links work?+
Yes. Short links are resolved by the caption service to the full video, then checked like any other link.
What does the SocialEcho extension add?+
The extension shows the same captions as a transcript beside the TikTok player: click a line to jump, follow the highlight as it plays, and export TXT or SRT without leaving the page. It is optional; this web tool works without it.
Is the transcript stored?+
A copy is cached for 24 hours so repeat requests for the same video don't call the caption service again. Nothing is tied to an account, and private videos cannot be fetched.
The video is longer than 10 minutes. What now?+
