The rebrand changed the link format but not how media is stored. Three things trip people up most often: GIFs aren't really GIFs, a single post can hold several media items, and old links still resolve.
This is the most confusing part. What loops on your timeline as a 'GIF' is stored by the platform as a silent MP4 — real GIF files are far too heavy, and the platform stopped using them years ago. So what you download is a .mp4, not a .gif. If you genuinely need the GIF container, convert it after downloading; but if you're reposting it anywhere, uploading the MP4 gives you a sharper picture at a smaller size.
X allows up to 4 images, or 1 video, per post. With quote tweets, the media inside the quoted post belongs to that other post — open its own link to resolve it. Our results list every item in the post you gave us, labelled with type and size, so you can pick and choose.
The domain moved from twitter.com to x.com, but the old domain permanently redirects and we recognise both shapes. Links you saved years ago don't need rewriting — paste them as-is. Tracking parameters like ?s=20 on the end are stripped automatically and don't affect resolving.
Video comes back at the highest transcode X has available, commonly 720p or 1080p depending on the upload. Protected accounts — the ones with a padlock — require an approved follow, so their posts can't be resolved; the same goes for deleted posts. Both are platform-side access controls.
